Join us out at the farm and dig into something fresh, literally! We're looking for passionate volunteers to help us harvest tomatillos and pumpkins. Whether you're a seasoned volunteer or a first time volunteer, your hands can help grow something bigger than a harvest.
By contributing your time, you'll help support our Harvest Program which:
- expands access to culturally relevant foods that are often hard to find or afford in traditional markets
- connects diverse communities with Yolo County farmers and the environment in a meaningful way
- increases food access across our community by distributing local, fresh produce to those who need it most
What to Expect:
- you'll harvest the produce from the vines - expect some bending and kneeling
- all harvest tools and supplies are provided by YFB
- you'll work alongside friendly staff and volunteers in a relaxed, supportive environment
- no experience necessary - just a willingness to lend a hand and enjoy the outdoors
- Tomatillos: September 11, 13, 18 and 25
- Pumpkins: September 20 and 27
How to Prepare:
- certain crops may cause skin irritation so we recommend that you wear a long sleeve top and pants
- for safety, closed toed shoes are required at all volunteer events
- hydration is key - please bring a reusable water bottle
