Welcome to the first edition of the Volunteer Vine: your monthly connection to all things volunteer at Yolo Food Bank! We created this space to celebrate the impact you're making, share what's happening across our programs, highlight upcoming opportunities, and keep our volunteer community connected. Just like a vine grows with care and support, our work continues to grow because of the time, energy, and dedication you bring to Yolo Food Bank. We also want to say thank you for being such an important part of the Yolo Food Bank community. Whether you volunteered once this month or joined us for multiple shifts, your time and energy helped make a meaningful impact for our neighbors. As we head into another stretch of hot weather, please remember to take care of yourself during your volunteer shifts. Stay hydrated, wear light clothing, use sunscreen, and take breaks when needed. If you're volunteering outdoors let staff know if you need a moment to cool down, your safety is always our priority. July by the Numbers 965 volunteer responses 2,395 hours served 26,000+ families supported across Yolo County Every harvest, food box packed, delivery completed, and distribution supported helped make these numbers possible. Thank you for showing up, lending a hand, and helping nourish our community! Looking for your next volunteer opportunity? Here are a few ways to help this month: Repack: Help us prepare food in our temperature-controlled Quality Control Room. Morning shifts focus on bagging produce, while afternoon shifts focus on packing rice. Monday & Wednesday Harvest: Join us in Woodland, Davis, Madison, and Knights Landing as we harvest fresh produce for our community. Multiple dates available Great for groups! Drivers: We're looking for volunteers to help deliver food from our Woodland warehouse to communities throughout Yolo County. August 7: Woodland (2 needed) August 14: Davis & Winters (1 needed) Warehouse: Support sorting, packing, and preparing food for our programs. This space is not temperature controlled however, we do have fans available. Multiple dates available Waitlists are worth joining! If a shift is full, please still sign up for the waitlist. If a spot opens, you'll receive an email notification and have the chance to register (first come, first served). Can't make your shift? Please cancel through your volunteer profile or reach out to us by phone or email so we can offer your spot to another volunteer. Volunteers with more than two no-shows may be removed from future shifts. A no-show means we were unable to reach you after you missed your scheduled shift. Update your interests! We send volunteer emails based on the interests selected in your account. If you'd like to add or remove opportunities, log in and update your profile preferences so we can share the opportunities that are most relevant to you.
