Thanks to Sutter Health, Yolo Food Bank is providing nutritious and culturally appropriate food directly to agricultural workers through the new Cultivo Program: Providing groceries directly to agricultural workers at their home and at their work (fields, farms, packing plants, and canneries).

"Cultivo" in Spanish has multiple meanings – it translates to crop, the tending to the land for harvest, and also the nurturing of relationships. With an incredible two-year $200,000 seed investment from Sutter Health, Yolo Food Bank designed this program to nourish agricultural workers in the region directly at their places of employment and residence year-round.

Cultivo was born out of our “Yolo County Food Access Survey,” which revealed a staggering 53% of agricultural worker households in Yolo County are food insecure. Since it's inception, Yolo Food Bank proudly serves 100 agricultural worker households in Yolo County, providing critical, culturally appropriate food to this essential community
