Opportunities From: Yolo Food Bank

Volunteer: Walk-Up Market at City Hall (West Sacramento)

Lend a hand or two and help distribute fresh groceries to our community members! Upon arrival, community members will proceed in a line through a series of tables, or “stations” that have been set up by volunteers.

Sorting, Packing, and Clean-up: Volunteers working in the food stations will help unload boxes of food from pallets and sort them into categories of produce, dairy, meat, etc. Once the food has been sorted and inspected, volunteers will pack a variety of these items into bags. Volunteers will also help replenish the pre-packed items on the tables with any overstock available on remaining pallets of food. Once the last community member has gone through the line, volunteers will also help with the clean up of the distribution area.

Additional Maps for Directions:

*Please bring water in a reusable water bottle. Water will be available to refill your bottle when needed.

Volunteer: Dry Product Packing: Quality Control Room (Woodland)

Sign up for Dry Product Packing to help us pack rice, beans, produce and other dry goods from bulk (25-50 pound) bags/containers into smaller 1-2 pound bags for distribution to our Yolo County community members

This opportunity is great for working at your own pace, building community with a small group of volunteers, and focusing on the small details. You will use simple measuring tools, occasionally lift materials, and maintain a clean and sanitary work station.

Packing at the YFB Warehouse is dependent on incoming donations, product availability, and program needs. While we aim to offer a consistent schedule, we may have to adjust dates and times to best serve our food recipients. If the schedule does change, a Volunteer Coordinator will reach out to you and offer alternative options!

Caution: Volunteers with severe food allergies are encouraged to seek other opportunities due to potential cross contamination!

This event will take place in the Quality Control Room. Please view the map layout below to additional information.
